Shawn Staples primarily practices commercial litigation with a focus on intellectual property litigation.  He has handled several cases involving diverse and complex technologies working with patentees, entrepreneurs, as well as large established companies. 

Shawn Staples was born in Missoula, Montana .  Prepatory education, University of Houston (B.S. 1987; Graduate Studies, American Political Theory, 1987-89) and a Graduate Fellowship, University of Houston, 1987-1989.   He received his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to practice in Texas in 1993.

Mr. Staples is currently admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas .

He participates in a variety of professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association and the Houston Bar Association and is a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
