Drunken Driving Suspected

Drunken driving suspected in fatal NW Houston wreck

HOUSTON CHRONICLE

Feb. 15, 2009, 11:50AM

A driver is facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter after a wreck in northwest Harris County early this morning killed a passenger in his car, authorities said.

The driver apparently lost control shortly after 3 a.m. after his car struck a curb along the 19400 block of westbound West Little York, near West Montgomery. The car then veered across the road and struck a tree, Harris County Sheriff's deputies said.

The passenger, identified by authorities as Christopher Green, died, authorities said.

Deputies detected an odor of alcohol coming from the driver. He was taken to an area hospital for testing and had a blood-alcohol content level of .20, authorities said.

The legal limit for intoxication in Texas is .08.

Deputies said the driver may have been racing with another car just before the crash, which remains under investigation.
