Houston police are searching for the driver of a van suspected of a hit-and-run collision that is believed to have caused a woman to lose her unborn child earlier this week.

Houston police said the woman was driving a gold Chevrolet Impala when it was hit by Ford van in the 6700 block of Airline about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman, who at 35 weeks pregnant was nearly full-term, was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where it was later discovered that she had lost the baby. No other injuries were reported.

The van driver sped away without providing assistance.
